Ingredients:
1 sheet puff pastry, thawed
2 tbsp butter, melted
1 cup shredded cheese (cheddar, Gruyère, or mozzarella work great)
1 tsp dried herbs (e.g., oregano, thyme, or Italian seasoning)
1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
Optional: Sesame seeds or poppy seeds for garnish
Instructions:
Preheat the oven:
Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
Prepare the puff pastry:
Roll out the thawed puff pastry sheet on a lightly floured surface to smooth it out. Brush the entire surface with the melted butter.
Add the cheese:
Sprinkle the shredded cheese evenly over the buttered puff pastry. For extra flavor, sprinkle the dried herbs on top of the cheese.
Roll the pastry:
Starting from one edge, roll the pastry tightly into a log. Use a sharp knife to cut the log into 1-inch slices. You’ll have spiral-shaped rolls.
Brush with egg wash:
Place the rolls on the prepared baking sheet, spacing them apart. Brush the tops with the beaten egg to give them a golden finish. Sprinkle with sesame or poppy seeds if desired.
Bake:
Bake for 15–18 minutes, or until the rolls are puffed and golden brown, with the cheese melted and bubbly.
Cool and serve:
Let the rolls cool slightly before serving. Enjoy them warm as a delightful snack or alongside soups and salads!
