Creamy Cajun Pasta with Shrimp and Spicy Sausage

Ingredients:
For the pasta:
12 oz (340g) fettuccine or penne pasta 🍝
1 tbsp olive oil 🫒
For the proteins:
8 oz (225g) shrimp, peeled and deveined 🍤
8 oz (225g) spicy turkey sausage, sliced 🌭
1 tsp Cajun seasoning 🌶️
For the sauce:
2 tbsp butter 🧈
1 red bell pepper, thinly sliced 🌶️
1 yellow bell pepper, thinly sliced 🌶️
3 garlic cloves, minced 🧄
1 ½ cups heavy cream 🥛
1 cup chicken broth 🍗
1 cup Parmesan cheese, grated 🧀
2 tbsp Cajun seasoning 🌶️
1 tsp smoked paprika 🌶️
Salt and pepper to taste 🧂
Garnish:
2 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped 🌿
Extra Parmesan cheese for serving 🧀
Instructions:
1️⃣ Cook the pasta: Boil the pasta according to the package instructions. Drain, toss with olive oil, and set aside. 🍝
2️⃣ Cook the shrimp: Season shrimp with Cajun seasoning. Heat 1 tbsp butter in a skillet over medium heat, cook shrimp until pink and opaque (about 2-3 minutes per side). Remove and set aside. 🍤
3️⃣ Cook the sausage: In the same skillet, cook the turkey sausage slices until browned (about 3-4 minutes). Remove and set aside. 🌭
4️⃣ Prepare the vegetables: Add the remaining butter to the skillet. Sauté red and yellow bell peppers until softened (about 4-5 minutes). Stir in garlic and cook for 1 minute. 🌶️🧄
5️⃣ Make the sauce: Add heavy cream, chicken broth, Cajun seasoning, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper. Bring to a simmer, stirring constantly, and let it cook for 3-4 minutes until slightly thickened. 🥛🌶️
6️⃣ Combine and finish: Stir in Parmesan cheese until melted and smooth. Add cooked pasta, shrimp, and sausage into the sauce. Toss to coat evenly. 🍝🧀
