Ingredients:
For the hot dogs:
8 beef hot dogs
8 slices turkey bacon
½ cup shredded cheddar cheese
8 hot dog buns
For the BBQ glaze:
½ cup barbecue sauce
1 tablespoon honey
1 teaspoon smoked paprika
For garnish (optional):
Chopped green onions
Crispy fried onions
Instructions:
Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) or prepare your grill to medium heat.
Make a small slit lengthwise in each hot dog, being careful not to cut all the way through. Stuff each slit with a small amount of shredded cheddar cheese.
Wrap one slice of turkey bacon tightly around each cheese-stuffed hot dog, securing the ends with toothpicks if needed.
In a small bowl, mix the barbecue sauce, honey, and smoked paprika until well combined. Brush the bacon-wrapped hot dogs generously with the glaze.
In the oven: Place the hot dogs on a wire rack over a baking sheet lined with foil. Bake for 20-25 minutes, turning halfway through, until the bacon is crispy and the cheese is melted.
On the grill: Place the hot dogs directly on the grill grates. Grill for 8-10 minutes, turning frequently, until the bacon is crisp and caramelized.
Toast the hot dog buns on the grill or in the oven for 2-3 minutes until warm and slightly crispy.
Place each hot dog in a bun, drizzle with extra barbecue sauce, and garnish with chopped green onions or crispy fried onions if desired. Serve immediately and enjoy!
